Abstract Rapid tests for active SARS-CoV-2 infections rely on reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RT-PCR uses of RNA into complementary DNA (cDNA) and amplification specific (primer probe) targets using (PCR). The technology makes rapid identification the virus possible based sequence homology nucleic acid is much faster than tissue culture or animal cell models. However technique can lose sensitivity over time as evolves target sequences diverge from selective primer sequences. Different have been adopted in different geographic regions. As we these existing primers to track manage spread Coronavirus, it imperative understand how mutations, geographically, used today. In this study, analyze performance use today by measuring number mismatches between genome spatially. We find that there a growing mismatches, an increase 2% per month, well high specificity location.
